Christmas at Harvey’s Point is all about memories and friendships. Our dream is to make our guests to feel at home and yet pampered in the lap of luxury. Its about fine food and wine, fun and relaxation. We have been welcoming guests to Harvey’s Point for over 26 years and each Christmas brings a special group of people together. Its like one big family house party. We love to see everyone mingling and enjoying the in house activities.
Our Christmas programme began with a welcome drinks reception in the Reading Room, hosted by Noel and myself. My 10 year old daughter Christina, played the role of ‘Lady of the Manor’ in effortless elegance. An impromptu carol sing a long in front of the fire set the tone for that first warm fuzzy Christmassy feeling.
Everyone was in good spirits on Christmas morning with bubbles to accompany a hearty Irish breakfast followed by a Treasure Hunt. From 1pm onwards, families and friends arrived in droves to celebrate Christmas Lunch and Santa was there to greet our guests with a glass of mulled wine. It was such a pleasure to go around the tables and see so many people enjoying their festive feast. When I returned home from work, Marc had dinner ready, the fire on and the table set. All I had to do was kick off the high heels, sip a glass of wine and enjoy some special family time. Meanwhile, Noel and the team continued to work their magic, ensuring that the rest of the day ran according to plan. There was quite a party on in Harvey’s Bar later that evening with a surprise appearance from ‘Elvis’ aka Kevin our barman!
On St Stephen’s Day, the weather was perfect for our walk along the lake shore with many residents joining us. Later in the afternoon, Marc and I were proud to host our Annual Dog Show at the Stables with over 16 dogs taking part. It may not have been ‘Krufts’ but it was so much fun. Hot Toddy’s galore made for a most enjoyable event in what one guest referred to as the ‘best bar in Ireland’ – the bar with no till! The festivities continued with beer tasting organised by Danny and later that evening, teams huddled together for Colm’s Pub Quiz. I am reliably told that there was no ‘googling’ this year!
This morning we said a fond farewell to our guests who checked out with smiles on their faces and a promise to return next Christmas for more magical memories. I would like to thank everyone for their continued loyalty and friendship. Above all, sincere thanks to our wonderful team who made it all happen. They are simply the best.
