Welcome to my first blog of ‘Deirdre’s Diary’ in conjunction with the launch of our wonderful new website. Special thanks to my darling Marc who came up with the original design, to Patrick and Sheila in our sales office and finally to Sonya Grogan who brought the content to life.
This year is a big year for the Harvey’s Point Family. We are celebrating 25 years of happy hotel keeping and to mark the occasion we had a big party and published our book ’25 Years of Welcomes’
2014 started on a high with the news that we had won the TripAdvisor No. 1 award in Ireland for the second consecutive year in addition to being selected as No. 6 in Europe and No. 23 in the world. Not bad for a wee family run hotel hidden in the hills of Donegal!
Our continuous re-investment in Harvey’s Point is being met with excellent feedback from our guests. Thanks to Jody and Marc’s respective genius in design, the new look restaurant and open style kitchen is amazing, not to mention Isobel’s gallery which is a unique collection of their late mothers artwork.
I have been on the road (and often in the air) on sales trips promoting Donegal and the Northwest in the US in association with Failte Ireland and Tourism Ireland. The Wild Atlantic Way is an exciting new initiative that is heralded as the longest defined coastal drive in the world. It is a great opportunity to showcase our region as a desired destination for tourists.
We are also about to launch a new marketing collaboration with Magee of Donegal, a project which links two iconic Donegal brands working together to benefit each other and our community.
All in all, it is shaping up to be a record season and we look forward to welcoming many guests to our home / hotel in the coming months.
To quote our saying:
“Come as a visitor and leave as a friend”.
