Sliabh Liag

No visit to Donegal is complete without a trip to the stunning Slieve League Cliffs (Sliabh Liag). A highlight along the Wild Atlantic Way, Slieve League is Ireland’s ultimate sea cliff experience. Located in the Gaeltacht region of County Donegal Sliabh Liag are the highest accessible sea cliffs in Europe where the cliff face of Bunglas rises over 600m above the ocean below. Sliabh Liag is a walker’s paradise and offers various trails for different skill and fitness levels.

Malin Head

Located in the Inishowen Peninsula, Malin Head is the most northerly point in Ireland and is renowned for its rugged coastline and stunning landscape. Malin Head is an area steeped in history and you can visit one of the lookout posts from World War I and most recently Malin Head was chosen as a location for the movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Grianán of Áileach

This is one of Donegals most breathtaking landmarks. Located close to the border with Derry, on a clear day the impressive view can take in 5 counties.

The site is now a National Monument, and consists of a massive stone ringfort, thought to have been built by the Uí Néills in the seventh century.

Fanad Head

Another popular spot along the Wild Atlantic way is Fanad Head. Located on the western shore of the Donegal Coastline, it lies between Lough Swilly and Mulroy Bay. One of its main features is Fanad Lighthouse with its panoramic views across the estuary looking towards the Inishowen Peninsula and the Atlantic Ocean.

Glenveagh National Park

If you want to take in an area of outstanding natural beauty that is steeped in culture and history then a visit to Glenveagh Castle, within the National Park is a must. The Castle was built in the late 1800’s and is now preserved as a visitor attraction with thousands visiting each year.
